Gossypium hirsutum (AD1) 'Chorlitos' genome ISU_v1
|
Overview
While domestication and improvement have led to significant gains in fiber quantity and quality, the narrow germplasm base of the modern cultivars has resulted in vulnerabilities, particularly to emerging pests. Wild populations provide a reservoir for genetic diversity that may be valuable in identifying and transferring resistance alleles to modern breeding lines. Here, we sequenced, assembled, and annotated four G. hirsutum genomes representing distinct, extant populations from its center of diversity in Yucatán, Mexico. 'Chorlitos' is one of the four. Table 1. Summary of genome assemblies and annotations of the four assemblies.
