Subject: [ICGI] Nominations for ICGI co-chairs are now open

Dear ICGI members,

208 cotton mutants have been added to CottonGen.  All mutants along with publication(s), published symbols, most of them have descriptions, and about half of them have image data available too.  These data are searchable by following steps:

- Go to CottonGen 'QTL Search' (https://www.cottongen.org/find/qtl)

- Select type 'MTL'

- Hit the button 'Search' for all Mutants or use the options to narrow down before hit the 'Search' button

3,612 test scores on 21 verities of fiber and seed traits from 2019 Regional Breeders Testing Network (RBTN) available, where 3,444 of 15 fiber quality and yield traits from 11 locations and 168 of seed oil and protein contents from 4 locations.

32,722 new images from NCGC (National Cotton Germplasm Collection) Characterization Project added.  These images were collected between 2014-2018 from College Station, Texas, and 2016-2017 from the Cotton Winter Nursery in Costa Rica.

Dr. Fred Bourland, professor and center director of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas, recently spoke about the changes in cotton breeding over past 50 years.  As recommended "to share, especially with graduate students who may not be aware of the many significant changes that have occurred in 50 years of cotton improvement between 1970 and 2020" by Dr.
