Genetics and plant breeding, especially cotton, as I have been in cotton for the past 19 years. I am currently using MAS in my conventional breeding activities. Breeding varieties suited for rainfed areas has been a passion. Work is also in the area of drought, compact cotton for machine picking, Bt. introgression in varieties, breeding for sucking pests tolerance, grey mildew resistance, ideotype breeding and Color-cotton. Have been a part of the team as a major scientist involved in the release of more than 5 hybrids and 3 varieties for cultivation in the various parts of the state and country. I am also teaching Heterosis Breeding for Post-graduates for the past 10 years.
