Registration of improved cotton varieties, IV
Publication Overview
Abstract Descriptions are given of the cottons Empire and Lankart-57, registered under cooperative agreement between the US Bureau of Plant Industry and the American Society of Agronomy. Empire was derived in 1935 from a plant probably a hybrid between Stoneville 2 and an unknown variety; it is resistant to Fusarium wilt. Lankart-57 originated from a double cross between Lankart strains, made in 1929; it is a medium early variety well adapted to conditions in Texas and similar areas where rainfall is not too abundant.
