DescriptionInfo. from Crop Sci. 22(4):899 (1982) -- smooth-leaf cotton type. Resistant to bollworms and fleahoppers but causes greater susceptibility to leaf-hoppers and aphids than normal-leaf cotton. Trait may be most useful in combination with other resistance traits and/or chemicals for reducing pest control costs. Comparative data available for yield (compared to recurrent parent). Cultivated.
Origin CountryUnited States
Origin DetailUnited States, Alabama
PedigreeDeveloped by backcross transfer of the smooth-leaf trait to recurrent parent. Parentage -- Coker 201 x N.C. Smooth 1 followed by cross to F1(Auburn 56 x Coker 201) & 6 subsequent crosses to Deltapine 16.
